Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. About Applebee's
Applebee is an American full-service restaurant brand popularly known for its signature Riblets. Applebee was conceptualized in 1980 by Bill and TJ Palmer in Atlanta, Georgia. At first, the restaurant was named T.J. Applebee's RX for Edibles and Elixirs. After the concept was acquired by W.R. Grace and Company, the restaurant was renamed as Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar. Later the company and the Applebee's concept changed hands with Abe Gustin and John Hamra who started the first Applebee's franchise restaurant in Kansas City.
Later in 2007, IHOP Corp. now known as DineEquity, Inc. acquired Applebee's and began their journey together to make Applebee's the world's largest full-service restaurant chain. Today, Applebee's serves at more than 1,830 locations worldwide. The Applebee's menu ranges from Appetizers and Salads to heavy meals consisting of ribs and steak. Although the trademark dish Riblets is a hot favorite among regular Applebee's dwellers, the restaurant also serves some amazing burgers, sandwiches, pasta, and salads.

We stopped in Opa last night for the first time. We were in a rush so we grabbed an order to go but the restaurant looked very nice a comfortable. I had the Gyro dinner and my wife had the Spanakopita Dinner. I thought I had to go to Astoria for a gyro this good! No more! The serving size was good and the taste was amazing. We will have to come back and dine in so that we can have this food prepared and served as it should be. If the take out was that good the dine in must be out of this world!

Stopped by last night for dinner, this has been the second time I've been to Opa.(First time since on Yelp) anyways ..I order the herb hummad and pita for the app it was very good ,The spilt pea suop was or seemed reheated because the bottom half was cold ,while the top half of the soup was hot. For dinner I order the Mediterranean skewers chicken .shrimp and steak with rice and peas. Found the rice was very salty.. Thought this was odd for rice. Found that All the skewers blan and tastless not even salt or pepper just blan.blah. The chicken and shrimp very over cooked to the max. The cut of steak was fatty and again tastless So goes my experience I willl not be returning....

I have nothing but issues with Opa Greek restaurant!!! I'm a long time customer and I been going there for years but now I'm taking my business to Mediterranean express... I called 3 weeks ago and spoke to a man called Shawn. He took my order but I changed my phone number but gave my new phone number and told him my old one cause he was it was linked to my address. I had them deliver it to my house and and told him he had to go through the gate. Meanwhile, he never did. He left and I called them back and Shawn said he was already there and tried calling me and by my old number when i tokd him to call the new one... So the teen kid gave my 12 year old an attitude when he came back. The food was cold, so keep in mind I waited over an hour. He brought back the food after he was done doing deliveries and I went to the door and told him it was cold. His response was, "I was here once now twice. And I have to come back again" I said yes, I spoke to shawn before he came back and told him I wanted fresh and hot he said no problem, just send the driver back when he gets there I said ok. So the delivery boy slammed my gate and walked away with an attitude. I called back and told shawn they rushed my order over 2 hrs later finally got my food. I called today to talk to a manager. Shawn got on the phone I asked him why nobody called back when I called 3 times and nobody back to me... He told me I was nasty and how I spoke to his driver and as per chris the owner he will never be delivering to my house ever again...Never again poor customer service skills will be calling again to I get chris the owner on the phone and tell him how his worker disrespected me.

We got 2 gyros, and 2 sides of fries to go. Was ready is 10 minutes. Huge order of fries. One order was definitely enough for 2 of us. Gyros were great and filling. Found the meat a tad bit salty but still enjoyed it. The pita was spot on. Will be ordering from this place again.

So i've eaten at Opa a few times, and I have yet to try anything that isn't absolutely delicious! The pita bread is by far, the best i've had. The chicken gyro meat is also the best i've ever had. Salads are great (especially the Greek Goddess, yummm). The service is also wonderful. The guys at Opa are friendly, welcoming and accommodating. For example: One day I arrived unexpectedly around lunch time with a party of about 10 people (well, I was under the impression that SOMEONE called ahead of time, but clearly that did not happen!). The Opa staff moved a few tables around and accommodated us all within seconds with no problem whatsoever. In my opinion; best casual Greek restaurant on Long Island, you must check it out! & PLEASE order a chicken gyro; you won't regret it!!!
(5)Bernadette F.
went here because of the good reviews but beware of the food. Had the special soup of the day which was seafood bisque and it was Thick, gloppy gooey mess. It was hard to find any fish at all in it because of the flour base. The chicken pita had some type of sliced pressed chicken garbage that I couldn't even eat. Husband had Shrimp Athena Had 5 large shrimp but the feta based sauce had hardly any taste The fries were good though. Will not return!!
(2)John S.
By far one of the most pleasant establishments I've been to on the island. All of the seafood is delicious && fresh. The staff is very friendly & hospitable. For the price, I'm not quite sure there is a Greek restaurant that could compare to OPA in regards to staff, food,& decor. Their dinner specials provide a 4 course meal with plenty to take home and their drinks are very nice. A++
(5)Lily C.
I'm still stuffed from dinner. We ordered the cold antipasto appetizer. Everything on it was delicious. It had hummus, babaganoush, skordalia and my favorite, taramosalata. It also came with grape leaves, chunks of feta and olives. You're going to need a big class of water after this appetizer though. We could have just eaten that and we would have been happy. It was so yummy. I ordered a basic gyro. It was generous, fresh and perfectly balanced. My husband ordered a Greek salad with gyro meat. It was huge. Good value, good service, good food.

Can you say wow!!!!!! This restaurant is not only affordable but also bang for your buck. The food is wholesome and delicious felt like I was nj a home than in a restaurant. The food tastes home made and yummy. The hummus the dip was delicious and to die for. So good and fresh that there was still chick peas that were not grounded all the way through. Which was the perfect touch that everything was made from scratch and not pre purchased and processed. My husband who is not a person who does not like to experiment was impressed with the food. He doesn't like hummus when I purchase it from the store was actually eating up a storm. We had appetizers drinks entrees and dessert. When my husband got the bill we was pleasantly surprised. He even suggested frequenting there more. The atmosphere is very family oriented and the dress code is super casual I would recommend this place who is looking for great Greek food at a great price. Best part is that it's very close to home.

Chicken Souvlaki are very good. Been here many times and food is consistently good! Rice pilaf with peas are excellent. Staff very pleasant and respectful.
(4)Jaimie W.
I had been searching for a decent falafel on Long Island (just Nassau/Suffolk) for a while with no luck before hearing about Opa. I'm so glad I found this place! The falafel is delicious and the staff is always really nice. After a meal here I'm always left stuffed, but still craving more because it's so tasty.
(4)Jessi P.
By far the best greek restaurant I have EVER been to. I have moved to MA but every single time I go back to LI to visit my family, I visit this restaurant. The food is always fresh, delicious, and plentiful at a reasonable price! I have tried so many different dishes and have yet to find one that I don't LOVE.
(5)Natasa S.
Very Good food. It's such a nice place to sit and eat. Very friendly and nice people. This isn't Astoria Queens, but it's one of the better Greeks on Long Island.
(4)Candie H.
Excellent Food. Restaurant is very clean, service is great and the food is fresh. We will definitely be back. Highly recommend to try it.
(5)Gary S.
We have been here numerous times and the service and the food has always been outstanding. The only reason I'm giving it four stars is the atmosphere is just okay. Even with that in mind it's definitely worth the visit. If you're expecting a fancy Greek restaurant that you might find in Astoria Queens this is not the place. Although if you're looking for inexpensive Greek food that's very good with great and quick service you found the right place.
(4)Jess L.
Best greek on the island! The chicken they use in their souvlaki is marinated perfectly. Their rice is so good. If you're watching your carbs don't omit it! Use it for a cheat day. Its worth it I promise! I'm not sure what kind of feta they use but it is the best I've had. Family owned and operated which I love. The family is very welcoming and accommodating. I've had both sit down and take out. Opa is good either way.
(5)Vanessa C.
First time trying this restaurant. We chose it because of all the positive reviews. Food was good. Gyro wasn't as good as Akropolis in Nesconset but still was better than most I have tried. The reason for the low rating was the way the waiter, at the behest of the owner, spoke to us as the end of the meal. We were wrapping up our meals and found a hair at the bottom of the plate. We weren't going to mention it but a friend we were with decided to say something to the waiter about it. The waiter stated he would bring it to the attention of the owner and then about 2 minutes later the waiter came back and tried to accuse us of putting the hair on the plate. We explained that none of us had grey and black hair and it obviously wasn't us but he was curt and rude. I did noticed the owner had black and grey hair though. The owner didn't even have the decency to say anything to us even though he was watching the interaction. First and last time for us. Certainly not any way to treat customers. Just a suggestion but try hair nets from now on.

Tried Opa for the first time last night. Made an order for delivery at 7:36pm and it arrived on my door step at 7:53. Granted we ordered foods that were most likely prepared ahead of time; Gyro over Greek Salad, Spanakopita app, Gyro Dinner, Avgolemono, etc. Regardless, I have never received food so quickly via delivery. This alone speaks volumes to a restaurant looking to make a positive first impression. The food was comparable to Bay Shore's standby, Mediterranean Express. Virtually no difference, the Avgolemono was a little soupier. Gyro meat was virtually the same, the Gyro Dinner came with peas as well, something a little different. Really impressed with their menu though, Saganaki, Taramosalata, Skordalia, Antipasto Platter - all items you can't find at the local Greek competitor. Will definitely try these next time.
(4)Steve W.
Stopped in for lunchtime gyros and fries... well above average as far as the fast-food aspect of Greek food goes - I'll be back to try more.
(4)Eric W.
Nice Greek restaurant. Friendly staff, good vegetarian options, comfortable. Folks liked the gyros and other pita sandwiches. Grilled veggie dinner was tasty. Spanikopita was good, too. Lentil soup was good. I'd definitely hit it again for a good meal.
(4)Chris S.
Went there last week with the wife for dinner. Food was great, as was the service. Food was reasonably priced and very fresh. We had stuffed mushrooms, chicken souvlaki plate and chicken santorini, all very good. Place is not much to look at from the outside, but inside it is decorated nicely and clean with a nice homey feeling to it. Our waiter (John, I think) was excellent and very friendly as was the rest of the staff. We will definitely return and would highly recommend it.
(5)Karen B.
Can you say FABULOUS!? I laughed when I saw all of the reviews on here disucssing how great Opa's hummus is... how can hummus be bad? But after trying it myself I must say that the hummus at this place is something to rave about!!!!! The food here is far beyond impressive, and the prices are absolutely fair. Service is phenomenal and there is no arguong that you need Opa Greek Restaurant in your life! I will be back without a doubt.
(5)A D.
Best Greek restaurant in Long Island...Food is fantastic...service is pleasant and attentive...I never thought i'd say the words "this hummus is fantastic'" but i HAVE to say that about this place!
(5)Victoria B.
The food was wonderful, the service was excellent and attentive. The vegetarian options are diverse. The hummus was so good, I almost licked the plate. That would have been inappropriate but that was the only thing that stopped me.
(5)James H.
OPA! Oh Yeah! I have been to many restaurants over the years, but this is the first restaurant in years that gets it. Good service, good food, good prices, good times. That's all you ask for in a restaurant and so many of them don't pay attention in all areas. The grilled vegetables over rice and greek salad were phenomenal. The grilled chicken was perfectly marinated. My mother in law got the gyro and my father in law got the lemon chicken which was one of the specials and they both thoroughly enjoyed. We will return often and recommend always. OPA!
(5)Charles P.
Opa is a delightful Greek restaurant. It reminds me of a taverna in the Greek countryside. The Tiganito Kalimari, Spanokopita App and the Antipasto platter are outstanding appetizers. The Stuffed Filet of Flounder, which included a salad and choice of potato was excellent. The Pork Souvlaki dinner was also great. The service is outstanding!
(5)Chez T.
Good food and very nice people ! I come here a lot to give opa my biz !
(5)Amber F.
Staff is friendly. The owner is very nice. Been here a handful of times and it is a great experience every time! Love the flavorrrrrrrrrrrrrs! Prices are extremely reasonable as well.
(5)Geoffrey N.
In short, its great Greek food and fast delivery times. In Astoria, there is no shortage of places to get Greek food, and Opa has never let us down. Fantastic spinach pies, lemon potatoes, and tzaziki sauce are just a few of the great options at Opa.
(5)Sofia U.
This place is sooooo good! I order the poseidon salad every time and every time it's awesome! Fast delivery and such nice people!
(5)Nick C.
I ordered Greek lasagna to go....it included a salad and I ordered extra pita. The price $19.77!! Compared to my Turkish place i love Nazars which I order an amount of food I cant finish...runs me between $9.50-$13.75. So with that being said. The Food was good...meat needs a little spice or something but I dont think will go back. For 20 bucks I thought I was getting a troth and all i got was a basic tin of slop.
(3)Dino K.
This place is great! I enjoyed my Greek salad, falafel sandwich, and rice pudding immensely. While this place is not exactly "authentic" Greek cuisine, it has a welcoming charm to it. It almost has a diner feel to it; minus the elderly people. But seriously, the best part about my experience was the service. Our waitress Sandra was super polite, courteous, and attentive. Anyone that can put up with me (and my restless kids) and not bat an eyelash, is okay in my book.
(4)Bea M.
Friendly and efficient service. Good food. Not too expensive. I've been there a bunch of times and it's pretty consistent. Just an all around nice place.
(4)John D.
Real Greek food at a good price. Sometimes, there's too much feta on the salads.
(3)Charles M.
I come here regularly for lunch. Their soups ranges from very good to exceptional. Their Gyros are noteworthy and the service is fast and friendly. Best of all, the place is very clean.
(4)Carl F.
Love everything about this place! Can't go wrong with anything you order.
(4)Jim L.
